Perth Update

Hello everyone!! Yes, I'm back from Perth for like 4 days now and I was actually quite lazy to blog about my trip though i totally enjoyed myself throughout the 5 days there. The company was great, food was wonderful!! Praise and thank God for the wonderful experience! I really miss that place a lot and while I was on the plane back to Singapore, I actually felt very sad. haha... But yep, it's truly fun! The weather there wasn't too cold in the morning even though it's winter. But the nights are definitely colder... I so miss the coldness there because one step out of Changi Airport caused me to sweat, sweat and sweat. Actually, I felt the warm even before I step out of the Airport. Haiz... Anyway, day by day events are as follow:

Last wednesday morning, when I went to the airport, I found out that my flight was delayed by 40mins... So it was quite a long wait since I reached early. I actually didn't felt afraid or scared compared to the first time I went last year. I was more afraid of my diarrhoea coming back or my other condition that i opposite of diarrhoea. The only fear I got was when the plane took off and there was turbulence for quite some time. Other than that, all was fine. Thank God for allaying my fears and blessing me with peace throughout the flight. When I reached Perth, it was already raining outside and it wasn't that cold. Andre and I went back to his place because it was almost 4pm when we leave the airport and most shops would have closed by then. The first night was more of a supernatural thing because we watched quite a few episodes of Supernatural. Dinner was home cooked by Alex and Teresa!! It wasn't bad at all! Nice warm meal in the cold. Wahaha... I took pictures of ah seng and mrs roo, the things that I'd missed so much...

Sleeping in the night required some getting use to as the room was super duper dark when the lights are off and the silence was piercing. It was super duper quiet. Imagine the amount of light and noise pollution we experience here in Singapore. diao diao...

Day 2 was fabulous! The weather was great! Though it threatened to rain in the morning, it didn't in the end as the clouds in the sky cleared as the day passes. Praise God! Breakfast was fabulous. We went to my favourite pancake restaurant in the city for the all-day breakfast that I so missed!

After brunch (we reached city at around 11am to 12pm?), we did some souvenir shopping in the city. I wanted to buy some clothes so we went to Harbout Town shopping centre to get some cheap clothes. As the weather was extremely cooling and good, we walked there instead of train-ing there. (transport was quite expensive as they increased the price recently...)

After getting what we want, we walked through Northbridge (the chinatown of Perth) in search of the humungous packets of nougats. It was a long long search and I finally found what I wanted in a vietnamese provision store. We went to an asian supermarket to have a look too. And they actually sell lots of asian stuff like condiments, instant noodles, tidbits etc. Very cool!

As we were walking throughout Northbridge in search of the packets of nougats, we decided to stop by a restaurant called Icey Ice. They sell ice deserts that are very famous in taiwan. The ice shavings are so fine that it tasted almost like ice cream! Andre and I shared one mango ice which tasted great!

Then, we made our way to Carousel, a huge shopping centre in the suburbs. I did my grocery shopping there (buying of chocolates, biscuits and stuff... wahaha). And there you go, I completed most of my shopping in one day. Wahaha... Dinner was wonderful! We had take away from this japanese restaurant called Kanta which is very near Alex's place. It is a very small restaurant with 1 chef, 1 assistant chef and 2 girls helping out at the counter. All the cooking is done by the chef and everyone who work there is Japanese and they communicate with each other through Japanese. It was interesting to see the way they work. I had Terriyaki Fish which tasted so nice!

Day 3 sees us going to Perth City again for brunch. This time, we had japanese food at Samurai. The food there is cheap and not too bad. I had a chicken katsu don while andre had something which I can't remember. Haha...

I did some shopping at Woolsworth (a supermarket) before brunch because there were a few things which I forgot to get the day before. Wahaha... So after brunch, we made our way to Hillarys to visit AQWA (Aquarium of Western Australia). It was quite a long bus ride there after a train ride. The weather was not very good too as the sky was cloudy and it began to rain. But when we got off the bus, it stopped raining. In fact, whenever we were not under any shelter, the rain stopped. How great can God's blessing get? Woot! Initially, we couldn't find AQWA because we didn't know where it is. So we walked and walked and we found a huge building which looks like an aquarium...

It turned out that the building was actually the Naturaliste Marine Discovery Centre. So we went in to ask for directions. So paiseh... Haa... In the end, we found the right place and went in for a visit. There was nothing much in there. We missed the seal show as it started raining and the area wasn't sheltered much. So we decided to get some souvenirs before leaving that place. As I said, when we left the place, the rain stopped =X So we went to walk around at Hillarys and had a spot of tea for tea break at Gloria Jeans since we have time to spare. The classic hot chocolate that I ordered taste like chao tah... Not chao tah chocolate but CHAO TAH in general. No chocolate taste at all. Andre's coconut white chocolate thingy taste too coconut-ish and it looks kind of disgusting come to think of it. Numerous globs of stuff floating in his drink... eee... I didn't take a picture of it. Quite wasted. But it was interesting. Wahaha...

We then made our way to the bus stop, not knowing what time the bus would come. It was disgustingly cold at the bus stop as it started to rain!! So we were like stranded at the bus stop and while waiting for the bus to come, we entertained ourselves quite a bit with lame things.. haha...

On the train back, andre pointed out a beautiful beautiful rainbow to me! It was so so beautiful and I wanted to take a photo of it in the train, but I couldn't. By the time I reached the bus interchange, the rainbow was quite faded. Sadness... But I still took a photo of it...

I spent quite sometime at home, waiting for alex and teresa to come back so that we can go for dinner. We had dinner at this restaurant called Bella Rosa. The food there was ok. Not too fantastic. But I was super duper full when we came back. Wahaha... So that's how we concluded day 3.

Day 4 was fun! Wen, Andre, Alex, me, and one of their friends went to Swan Valley for lunch. We spent quite some time there. The view there was fantastic!! Totally beautiful, the vineyards and all. Sadly, me, being an idiot, didn't take much photos of the beautiful place there.... sigh... We headed to the Margaret River Chocolate Factory after that which sells lots of tasty chocolates. But me being an idiot again, did not buy anything from that place. I kind of regretted about not being productive that day lar! Tsk!!

We wanted to paint Wen's new place after the outing to Swan valley. But it was too late when he came back with the paint. So we didn't paint in the end. We went to a food fair organised by Andre's church. There wasn't much things there by the time we reached there. So in the end, we didn't eat much. Andre asked me what was the one thing that I want to do on my last night in Perth, and I told him that I want to eat an ice cream out in the cold. And I did in the end, after much encouragement from Andre and his friend. Haa... But it was freaking cold and my hands almost freezed from holding the ice cream. It's a mango sorbet thingy in a plastic tube and the ice cream was extremely hard!! And in the end, a girl had to help me push he ice cream out of the plastic tube... haha... We made our way to Wen's new place to have a look at it. His new place was not too bad. I guess when done up, it will look very very nice!!

My last day in Perth was a rather eventful one. Alex, Teresa, Andre and I went to Northbridge for dim sum. The dim sum was fabulous! It tasted so so good! Andre was like telling me that there as something that he didn't want to tell me before I fly off and I was wondering what it was. We were even discussing about plane crashes on the way to Northbridge when Teresa blurted out something about Qantas which Andre stopped her from telling me. I panicked for a while... haha... Alex sent me to the airport after our brunch and there I was, waiting to go back to Singapore. Apparently, my feelings was a direct opposite from the previous time. In december, I can't wait to go home, but that very day, I actually don't feel like going home, knowing that school is going to start and the stress is coming. But I still came home in the end lar. No choice right? Haha... My plane was delayed again. And I did quite a lot of shopping at the airport. I bought one box of tim tams back lar! haaa...

When I got back to Singapore, Andre told me about the explosion in a Qantas plane which caused a huge hole in the plane. I was totally shocked lar! Because as the plane was about to land, I felt something huge hit the bottom of my feet and there was a huge sound! haha... But thank God for allowing my whole journey back to Singapore to be a safe one. =)

All in all, my holiday at Perth was one filled with fun and enjoyment! I so miss that place now!! The people there are so helpful, polite and nice! And the company there was great! Praise God for all His blessings eh! Haa... Well, it's time to wait for school to start now.

I got back my QET results yesterday and I was so surprised that I passed!! I thought I would fail the test but in the end I passed it!!! Thank God for His guidance and blessings for me throughout the test. I guess without God's guidance, I wouldn't even passed the test. =))

Currently, I'm monitoring the bidding process in CORS. I know i very kiasu but I really want to get all the modules that I want. WAhaha... Hopefully all goes well eh! =)

Live from Perth

Hello everyone! My holiday at Perth so far is great! wahaha... Yesterday, had breakfast at the pancake restaurant. I've been craving for their pancakes ever since my arrival to Perth. They are so yummilicious! Then, we walked all the way to Harbour Town to do some shopping since the weather was good (it wasn't too cold in the morning, aircon cold only). Bought some new clothes from there. woohoo! I shan't type out minute by minute account of what happened. wahaha... But so far it's been great! =) Food's great, shopping's great, company's great! So yep! Will come home and blog more with pictures. Tomorrow will be Swan Valley day! Can't wait! =)

Perth... Here I come...

So the day has arrived. Surprisingly, I'm not over-excited like how I was previously. In fact, it feels unbelievable that I'll be flying off tomorrow. Time passes so so quickly. Too quickly I guess. Well, this is the day! I hope it will be enjoyable one (i'm sure it will!). I pray for God's guidance, blessings and protection through my whole 5 days there. Praise God for giving me this chance to have a short short holiday overseas! wahaha

It's winter over there now. And I've been monitoring the temperature at Perth for the past few days (I know I'm crazy... haha). It's really cold! Hopefully my training in Korea can be put into good use. I hope! Wahaha...

Oh yea... QET was disgusting. I had a really bad diarrheoa which caused me to nearly faint on Thursday! And I thought that my doctor would give me an MC for the exam. However, I think he got the impression that I must go for QET the next day so he gave me potent medicine to stop the flow , if you get what I mean. Now, I'm constipated =X This is bad bad bad... wahaha... Anyway, it's all over and I place my worries in God's hands. Whether I pass or fail, it's entirely up to Him now. But I have to praise God for blessing me with alertness and energy to do the test because I couldn't sleep the night before. Yep... God is truly great! =))

Alright, I shall end off here. I might be able to blog when I'm over there in Perth but I will have to see how first. Cannot be so thick skin, stay people house still use people computer/electricity/internet. They all cost money eh... Haa... Take care everyone! =)

QET 1

I was so hoping that I can take my QET in November since it is in the afternoon and my biological clock is more or less accustomed to school timing. But I received the reply from registrar that I have to sit for it this fridy because I matriculated early. This is bad. After looking through the sample QET paper, I'm actually quite scared that the standard will be the same, if not harder. It's actually quite difficult because a lot of inference is required for the comprehension (even though it is only MCQ). The essay is also quite worrying as it is very current affair-ish and the topic is fixed. So I'm praying real hard that I will be able to pass it because I don't want to waste my time to take the english support modules. I pray that God will bless me with peace at heart and a focused mind to brave through this. =)

Results... again...

I was really excited and happy that I was given a chance to apply for Life Science Minor even though I'd missed the deadline. Apparently, one of the personnel at the life science department appealed for me. And I am very very grateful and at the same time, I felt really blessed. Today, I've received an email from the life sciences department that my application is unsuccessful as they felt that my biology was not strong enough since I got a B for my A levels. Haa... Oh well, at least I've tried. I felt a little disappointed though, because I'm seriously very interested to minor in Life Sciences. But, if it's God's will, let it be so eh =) At least I'm still offered a chance to apply again in semester 2! So I shall use this as a motivation and work very hard to pull up my CAP score! Praise God for what He's done eh!

Monday's outing with Daren and Eugene was kinda interesting. We had a blast at Shokudo and I guess we were laughing a little too loudly. But all's good eh. Watched the movie Hancock and frankly speaking, I'm still baffled by the storyline. The change of focus is quite sudden I think. So conclusion is, I will never ever watch it again (though it's definitely better than cloverfield......)

Right, I've been thinking quite a lot after what happened yesterday. Seeing someone break down in anger and frustration really made me think how much I have done to help the choir. Seriously, one's patience has one's limit and once it's being pushed beyond that level, things will turn nasty. I can understand how he's feeling, being pushed so much and trying to do his very best so that he won't let anyone down. But then, because of certain situations or events, he is unable to produce his best since he was bypass-ed rather often. Furthermore, I think I've given him much pressure after a long talk with him a few weeks back. Everything seems to culminate to that breakdown yesterday and I'm truly saddened, and at the same time, angered by how things are happening. I don't know what I'm going to do but I pray that God will bless these young charges with a discerning mind and courage to step forward and settle this properly. I pray that no dispute will result from this and I pray that, no matter how hard things can be for them, they will persevere through and give their very best in time to come as they learn from their mistakes and become more independent. Amen.

Of NDP and Fireworks

Before I begin, I want to wish Daniel a very happy 21st birthday!! =)

Alright, I'm extremely exhausted. After lunch, I just fell asleep on the sofa for 2 hours. I'll be attending ACJC Choir's concert tonight. It'll be my first time attending their concert and I can't wait to hear them sing... wahaha...

Yesterday's NE Show was............. okay, no too bad. The only exciting stuff this year are the combined performance of SAF band and MP, the air display by the black knights, and the fireworks. They're very very very cool! Especially the air display! Here are some photos of the air display...

Here are some photos of the SAF Band and the MP doing their display stuff.

And lastly, some nice photos of the fireworks! Woohoo!!

I have some random photos here too... of umbrellas and other things........

The main character in this photograph is the parade commander... not the umbrellas...
I quote, "Please rise to welcome the cabinet ministers...... simulated"

This MP was standing at that exact same spot throughout the whole 4 hours of the show. Cool...

Yup, that's it for NDP. Most of the photos are close ups of the Montfort section of the choir. Don't ask why... wahaha...
