Of crystals and proteins

Yes, I've been busy studying for my upcoming test on monday and my project essay is killing me. I'm still quite confused over a few things but I think I've come to the point of accepting things as it is. In any case, if there's anyone out there who can explain what an electrostatic/electric potential is, please give me a beep beep. Arigato! My dear dear understudy has offered his services and had tried explaining it to me yesterday over MSN. But MSN being MSN, it's all words and I'm still confused. He even offered to meet me and explain things to me but I'm not free... hurr... oh well... My understudy still rocks!! Thanks Yuliang!

Just this afternoon, I've realised how important the symmetry we learnt in primary school is. For the past few days, I've been wrecking my brains, trying to figure out rotational symmetry in crystals. And I think my spatial IQ is extremely loww... hurrr... But I managed to see how rotational symmetry works (I know I'm not giving my pri sch teachers any credit for forgetting something so brainless and simple...) after remembering what Mrs Lau, my pri 5 and 6 form teacher, told us about rotational symmetry. I quote, "Just turn the paper and see if the figure is the same after rotating it for a certain angle". (not exact words though... Pri sch is like a million years ago..) And voila... I saw it! I was so so enlightened after that! Praise God for helping me remember! =)

And since yesterday, I've been waking up with an outpour of facts about protein crystallisation in my head. It's scary, I tell you. Once my eyes were opened, I begin thinking about how protein crystallisation works, how protein molecules assemble to produce crystals etc etc. Haha... I don't know if it's a good thing or bad thing.

So... I took a break yesterday and went out for a movie. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian really rocks. I enjoyed the movie a lot! Though at some parts it can be quite funny. Haa... But that movie is seriously good. Exciting and of course sort of reminds me about how God works in our lives. With faith, all things are possible. That whenever we are in trouble, He's right there listening to us and guiding us along. yep yep... Truly nice to know indeed! =)

Alright, I guess it's back to studying and thinking about how to I am going to complete my report by next wednesday. Haa... But I quote, "Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry for itself. Each day has enough worries of its own." Matthew 6:34. That I will remember. Praise God =)

Wonderful God!

God is wonderful and great! All things, big or small, are worthy of his praise! I was having a hard time understanding something regarding how precipitants work in protein crystallisation last night. And i thought i actually understood it before. This morning I prayed for God's guidance, to allow me to find materials which can give me a clear picture of what I assumed to be right, and there it was, with a click of the mouse button, the information came to me just like that. Praise God!! =)

My Heart Yearns for Thee

Oh how my heart yearns for Thee
Oh how my heart yearns for Thee
More than the watchman waits for the morning
Lord I am yearning for Thee

Oh how my heart yearns for Thee
Oh how my heart yearns for Thee
Just like a river runs to the sea
Lord I am running to Thee

Deep calling to deep
Spirit to spirit
As a deer panting for water
Lord I am thirsting for You

Oh how my heart yearns for Thee
Oh how my heart yearns for Thee
Just like the watchman waits for the morning
Lord I am waiting for Thee

Oh how my heart yearns for Thee
Oh how my heart yearns for Thee
More than the watchman waits for the morning
Just like the river runs to the sea
And as a deer panting for water
Lord I am running to Thee

Concert-y week

So yet another week has passed. School has been interesting so far. Thanks to Sophie for he textbook cos it helped me alot in understanding some physics stuff!! Physics and I don't go together so I'm actually quite surprised that I've understood what is taught so far even though I was grabbing on to information blindly initially... Praise God! I guess the stress has started to kick in with the deadline for term paper topic submission drawing near. I'm glad that I have no problems finding group mates since all 4 of us are from MJC... But hopefully we are all able to produce our essay by 20 June. I shall trust God and see how things go. =)

Attended AJChoir's concert yesterday evening. The concert was not bad. I was wondering how they managed to change so quickly during the second half of the concerts since they had to change by the end of 2 songs. Cool skills they've got there. It reminds me of my first concert in MJ. The guys didn't have much time to change during the intermission because we were arranging the platforms for our operatta (musical thingy). In the end, we went out on stage without securing our cloth thingys to our shirts. Wonderful memories theyr were. And MJChoir put up a guest performance for the concert yesterday. They actually sounded not too bad though I know that they can do better for their competition in Olomouc, Czech Republic! =))

I'll be attending TPJC Choir concert tonight. It seems that I have a lot of money to spent since I've attended 3 concerts in 8 days. Felt so sian suddenly... haa... But it's ok... It's always interesting to listen to those choral pieces which I've never heard or sung before... And it's always nice to listen to a different rendition of those that I've heard or sung before. Heh heh...

Oh well... Off to prepare for school tomorrow... yippee!

Our Amazing God!

I thank God for allowing me to start during special term because it is truly an excellent avenue for me to get my engines started since I've been feeling very very lazy to start studying.

I thank God for allowing me to have people I know to take the same module as me for this part of ST so that I won't feel so alone.

I thank God for blessing me with the wisdom and knowledge to understand the concepts I thought were un-understandable when I stepped out of the lecture theatre for the pass two days.

I thank God for blessing me with opportunities to learn patience and perseverance as the thought of giving up studying for my module altogether came in mind. However, the reminder that God will guide us through, bless us with opportunites to understand, and the need to stay calm, not panic but trust in God gave me the strength to go on and not give up.

I thank God for blessing me with opportunities to serve him in every way possible.

I thank God for the people (i.e. friends and family, especially my parents and brother) who have showered their care and concern upon me through my life even till now where school has just begun for me.

I thank God for healing me for I would not have ventured far and excel in things that I want to do and achieve without His healing.

Most importantly, I thank God for bringing me back to Him! For without God in my life, I wouldn't have gone so far. Without His promises and words of encouragement, life would have been difficult, without any meaning or purpose.

Praise God for all that You've done for your works, miracles and creations are truly great beautiful and amazing! God is indeed so true and real and there can be no way that we can prove otherwise. The many blessings in my life is testimony to His wondeful presence! Hallelujah!! =)

Back to School

Finally, I'll be starting school tomorrow after waiting for 2 long years. I'm still not prepared for school though. Realised that I have not even prepared my stationeries for school and I don't even have a pencil box to put my stationeries in. So I guess I'll have to go shopping tomorrow after lecture. I have 3 hours to spare anyway since VJChoir Concert starts only at 7.30pm while I end at 4pm. Haa... So exciting... It's been so long since I've last studied. I hope that I'll be able to regain my stamina to study soon because I am beginning to feel very comfy with my lazy life now... haa... Wonder how I'm going to adapt to school life again... Hmmmm...

Anyway, I've passed my audition for Praislight. Will definitely persevere through my time in ministry. Will be praying that God will bless me with patience and courage to step out of my comfort zone once again and start praising and worshipping him! And of course, strength, to fight against the evil devil that will try to move me away from serving God.

The way God works is truly amazing and great. All you need is faith and prayer and it shall be given unto you by God. The bible say that even if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you have power to move mountains. That is so so true. The peace and calmness that I felt throughout my audition was definitely God-sent. I was quite unnerved when I woke up that very morning but during my journey there, I just prayed for peace and it was blessed unto me. God is truly great! His creations are so beautiful and wonderful! God is truly real and living! Praise God for all that has been blessed upon me! Hallelujah! =)

Who died?

Everytime I look at my picture on my identity cards, I ask myself, who died? If others look at my picture on my cards, they will tell me that I look like a gangster. This is kind of disturbing. In fact, after looking at my IC, 11b and NUS ezlink card, I realised that my face is the same! even though the photos are taken in sec 4 (i.e. 2003), second day of enlistment (i.e. 2005) and yesterday respetively.

And i guess my face have not change ever since I've graduated from secondary school... wahaha... I wonder if it's a good thing or a bad thing... heh heh....

Life is great

It feels great to hae opportunities to catch up with old friends and friends alike. Praise God for allowing my sec sch frens and army frens to just talk to me on MSN. Recently, I've been having quite a few ppl talking to me and asking how i've been. It just feels great to be remembered. Praise God once again! =)

Of course, I'm thankful for the recent creation of the tiggatiggers for I don't remember laughing as much since the last time I've laughed that much. Being sucked into this vortex of youthfulness (because I'm the oldest in that group and the youngest is just 14) reminded me so much about my secondary school days when I was in the Holland V/Planets. The times where we just sat outside the staff room during recess time, talking and talking and having so much jokes. It was great!

Come to think of it, throughout the years of my life, I've been in quite a few cliques like holland V, 3 musketeers and1 extra, J cubeS, 7 wanderers and now the tiggatiggers (though the members are seriously very young!). It sort of reminded me how much I've actually grown and how old I actually am. Feels like all of a sudden, I'm going to be 21 and everything just went pass like that. How interesting...

I'm very thankful for the many lovely and sweet memories I had and how God has made my life so colourful and filled it with happiness. Yes, there are definitely times when I feel down and out but the fact that God is always right beside me to pick me up when I fall, comforts me a huge load! Also, I'm always reminded that all the times when things don't go the way you want it to go, are times where God moulds us and wants us to learn something from it. That's how great God is ain't it? Life without God just feels meaningless!

Alright, just a caution to all to not watch superhero movie if you are not a fan of lame jokes because the movie is full it. And the storyline does not have any link at all. Furthermore, towards the end of the movie, part of it was cut away, so viewers were left in a state of confusion over what happened. Haaa...

Here's a picture of the tiggatiggers if you've been wondering who I'm talking about...

School is starting in 2 weeks time... Just can't wait! =)

End of yet another chapter...

Today sort of marks the end of my relief teaching days because the school I'm working for will be having their Mid-years next week. Therefore, they will not need any relief teachers for that period. I will surely miss some of my students, the ones who never fails to make me laugh. The experience gained is definitely valuable and enriching. Its interesting to get to meet different kinds of people with different personalities and see how students behave in a co-ed secondary school (since I spent 10 years of my life in a boys school). Oh well... hopefully I'll get to do a proper farewell one of these days...

Tomorrow will mark the last day of me being active in montfort's choir practices and it will also be the last day for the sec 4s since choir practice will stop for preparation for mid years. I guess I've drawn myself close to the choir, though they are like a million years younger than me. It has been good and meaningful time spent during each choir practice with the juniors. Though they might not be good, its still the good times spent together that makes it memorable. It feels very secondary school-ish all over again and I seem to become more and more child-like. But being able to help them through conducting practices and all feels good. Some might say that they are a lost cause or it is a waste of my time to go back and help. But I just feel that I should offer my help and give them the moral support, to let them know that they have a senior who cares about them. And it feels great to know that the choir and the teachers appreciates my presence and help.=)

Oh well... One chapter closes and another opens. Let the Lord lead me through it all eh =) School's starting. Can't wait!

Exhausted

I feel like a walking zombie today. I've been feeling so exhausted since morning and the amount of time spent on sleeping today is scary. I guess it must have been the late nights and early mornings that kill me. Slept late on thursday and friday evening. Furthermore, I woke up early on friday, worked, went to Montfort immediately for their founder's day rehearsal, then home to bathe and was out the next moment to meet up with the 04S208 peeps and by the time i reached home, it was about 11.40pm. However, I'm not going to complain about it because the time spent was great and it was worth it =)

Alright, school is starting very very soon and I'm beginning to feel more and more excited about it. The school I'm working for says tat I can go back for relief teaching on days where I have no lessons. So I'm quite happy about it. Then again, when my 1st sem officially starts, i doubt I will have so much time to do relief teaching since my 5 modules will most probably occupy every single day.

Founder's day rehearsal at Montfort was not bad before stage time and quite bad when they are on stage. It was truly a lol moment on stage with them. haaa... At least they sounded presentable during practice, which makes it consoling to know that they are capable of that standard. wahaha... How I wish I know how to help them improve chorally...

Oh well... Here are some photos from the SYF display band 2008 and random ones... Sadly, my cousin's sec sch got a silver. I though they did pretty well though... haaa...

Planetshakers!

For the past 2 nights, Song Choon and I went to expo for the planetshakers and Tim Hugh praise and worship session. Praise and worship was great!! I've never felt so free in my life. God is definitely in our presence and the holy spirit was definitely there to fill the place! Yippee doodles! I just felt so high throughout... Though I was super tired yesterday, I'm glad that I went because God will guide me through! =))
Some photos from the event taken by me with my lousy handphone...

Grandma's Birthday

My family celebrated my grandmother's birthday on sunday. It was quite an interesting celebration.. haaa...

This year's celebration was held at the same place again, Carribean at Keppel Bay and the food was from the same place, Mum's Kitchen, with the exact same dishes from last year. However, something funny happened. It took my aunty 2 hours to drive my grandmother from ang mo kio to Harbour Front. Why so? She got lost. Haha... It was very very amusing. My cousins, brother and I were sitting in front of the buffet table, staring at my aunt giving my other aunt animated instructions on how drive from Hillview to Harbour Front. It was so so funny. In the end, another aunt of mine went all the way to entrance of Carribean to wave at them so that they will not miss the turn. While my aunt was out at the roadside, my whole family was at the balcony of the function room looking and looking, as if we were expecting a meteor to crash into the place. Then, as my grandmother walk towards the function room, my cousins and small baby cousins started waving at her. And my grandmother waved back at them like a queen. The scene was so cute!!!

Anyway, here are some photos of the event...

I feel so high after service today. I don't know why but I just felt so so happy, so so jubilant! Like what I've always said, God is so real! I literally felt his presence throughout the day today. Everywhere I go, everything I do, I just felt Him beside me, watching over me. God is truly great!! Hallelujah!!

A night at MJ

Going back to Meridian yesterday made me realise how much I miss my JC life!! MJChoir had their orientation camp yesterday and the alumni were invited to visit. The choir has grown a lot! They are preparing for their competition at Czech Republic this coming june and they have finished learning the songs and sounded decent for some of the songs. I'm sure they will do well for the coming competition! That itself made me realise how much I miss singing in MJChoir, if not, in a fully functioning choir itself! haaa... We heard from the teacher in charge that 2 of the classroom blocks are air conditioned now! The art room has been converted to a air conditioned study room which allows the students to study till 8.45pm at night and there are all sorts of vending machines around the school now! The pond behind the LTs beautifies the school (compared to the plain grass land I saw when I was still around) and the LTs themselves are going through renovation. By the end of this year, MJ will have a rock wall too for rock climbing! So many changes!! And MJ looks and feels like a cool place to study in now. How lucky our juniors are... wahahaha...

Anyway, here is a photo of the record breaking bottle cap MJ crest I've taken last night. The photo was a bit slanted because I didn't take it from the right side. So I've rotated the photo to make it look correct, but then, the crest now looks oblong in shape. Just to clarify, it looks perfectly circular in school. haaa...

So cool right?! Can't stand it... By the way, the LTs still smell the same even after I've left the school for 3 years. Explains a lot! But the smell is greatly missed... haha

After that, the alumni left for mac donalds at downtown east for supper. We played the card game munchkin which could have been very enjoyable if not for me being very tired. We ended the game at about 2.30am. By then, I was a walking zombie. Wahaha... but the game is interesting, no doubt =)

Interesting!

God has once again proven that he is watching over me and is by my side every second of my life. I was sitting in front of my lappie, asking God to give me something to do to take my mind off the stress and stuff. Lo and behold, after a few seconds, Song Wei MSN-ed me and asked me if I want to jog with him! Instantaneous answer to my prayer! Praise God!!! =)

However, we didn't get to jog in the end as it started raining. Haha... Oh well, at least i left house and managed to watch one soccer team play soccer a Hougang stadium. Also, the cheesecake that I've baked seems to have failed. Sigh... Shall see the outcome tomorrow!

God is great!!! =)))

'I think i need to start my baking habit soon. It's been so long since I've last baked and my ingredients are not getting any fresher... Ahhh... What happen to my "baking is therapeautic" motto?

Wednesday, March 26, 2008

God works in such wonderful ways that makes me feel so blessed to have come to receive Christ. The guess the things that I have been through as a relief teacher so far is God's way of training and affirming me of wanting a career as a teacher.

It's been quite tiring and demoralising, teaching my tuition kids who do not want to cooperate with me and help make the lesson productive. I guess it's me being to nice to them which gave them that chance to step over me. The thought of giving up teaching loomed in my mind. In school, many situations happened in a day which seems to test my critical thinking and problem solving skills. Just when I have half the mind of giving up like a weakling, God blessed me with wonderful teaching experiences for the next few days. I went to classes which are so willing to learn and I actually managed to help them with their chemistry and science and that heartens me. And I sort of realised that all these things that I am going through now are just learning experiences for me to take note and remember to help me further in future. To learn what to do and how to deal with situations both good and bad. I'm very very thankful for God's affirmation for me. Praise God! =)) And I'll have to thank Joanne too for her encouragement! =)

Anyway, here are some photos from the choir exchange last last last week and a small gathering with sett, kenny, andre and desmond a long long time ago this year (or is it last dec... hmmm...)

The Big Clean Up

Last week, I decided to tidy up my room because my study desk has things from 2004 pasted on it and my secondary school notes are seriously collecting lots of dust. I could have created Mount Dusty with the amount of dust collected in my room. It's totally disgusting. After throwing away all my English, Chinese and Literature (with much reluctance, because I love Romeo and Juliet!) notes, I managed to create lots of space for my JC notes. Notes from JC will never be thrown away because they are very very precious to me. All my sweat and blood is in there, especially my answers to the TYS questions. Wahaha...

And so, with my study area cleaned up and organised, I've decided to decorate the piece of wooden wall in front of me. Now, I have so many pairs of eyes staring at me. This shall provide the extra pressure when I procrastinate. Wahaha...

This is how my room look like now...
